Google Translate is a free, easy-to-use tool that helps you translate words, phrases, and even entire websites. Whether you’re traveling, learning a new language, or communicating with someone who speaks a different language, Google Translate makes it simple. Just follow these few simple steps to get started…

Before you can translate in the app, you need to choose the languages you want to work with. Here’s how:

On a Computer (Web Version):

First, go to Google Translate. This is located at either “translate.google.com” or “translate.google.co.uk”. You can also find this by typing “google translate” into the search bar. When you get there, you should see something that looks like this…

At the top of the left text box, you’ll see “Detect language” (or it might already say a language). If it doesn’t, just click on the down arrow that is a little to the right, to select the language you want to translate from. Next, above the right box, click on the down arrow and select the language you want to translate to. You can also type the name of the language or scroll through the list.

On a Smartphone (Google Translate App):

Open the Google Translate app and, at the top, tap the language name to select the language you want to translate from.
On the other side, tap the language name again to choose the language you want to translate to.

Say the phrase or sentence clearly.
The app will automatically translate the speech into the language you selected and display the translation.
