SUMMARY:Recycle\, Refurbish and Repair Devices (free training)
DESCRIPTION:Free introductory sessions to the three Rs of IT: recycling\, refurbishment and repairs\, at Limehurst Library on 19/08/2025. \nTameside Community Computers (TCC) are running free information and training sessions on device recycling\, refurbishment and repair at Limehurst Library on 19th August 2025\, at 10am\, 12pm or 2pm. (The same session will be repeated in each time slot.) \nEach session will cover: \n\nRefurbishment and Upgrades – replacing the hard drive; replacing the RAM; installing a new operating system.\nDisassembly and Recycling – stripping and recycling a laptop; separating metals\, plastics\, batteries\, circuit boards.\n\nAnd more! \nThis is an introduction to the subject and does not come with a qualification. \nTCC will provide all the required tools and equipment for this hands-on learning session. Ideal for: \n\nStudents and school leavers interested in working with hardware or looking for something to add to their CVs\nPeople wanting more hands-on experience with IT\nPotential volunteers interested in helping to get unwanted devices into the hands of people who need them\n\nThe training session is open to any age but under 16s need to be accompanied by an adult. (The adult does not need a ticket unless they will also be completing the training.) \nPlease note that this event takes place in a public building where filming and photography may take place (including the recording of your voice) and may be used across our marketing media for promotional purposes.
